In many ways, raising a dog or puppy can be a lot like raising a child. Each one needs love, support, discipline, understanding, and encouragement for successful development. And much like parenting, it takes a special person to be effective – a realization that each one has individual needs, personalities, strengths and weaknesses.

Joel and Tina Soprano, owners of Country Air Kennels, are authorities on dogs. The couple has spent their entire lives learning and working with dogs. They recognize the potential in every animal, and customize their training courses with one goal in mind - to bring out the best in every dog. They share a passion for canines, as well as a proven track record of producing champions. Their world-class facilities, based in Kokomo, Miss., are the result of a lifetime of hard work.

“Since we were kids, we’ve always had dogs,” said Tina, who co-owns Country Air Kennels with her husband Joel. “Mostly Labrador Retrievers. My father had hunting dogs, and Joel has hunted and trained dogs since he was a child.”

Joel Soprano was formally introduced to dog training when he went to work with professional trainers in field trials, while on spring and summer breaks from Franklin High School, in Franklin, La. At this time he decided that working with dogs would be his life’s work.

In 1980 the Sopranos started their business in Charenton, La. They later moved Country Air Kennels to Union City, Tenn., and then on to their current location in Kokomo, Miss. Here, they work with the dogs in a beautiful, wide-open rural setting. For the Sopranos, it is truly a labor of love.

And they produce results.
